Can I use generative artificial intelligence (AI) in my assessment?

Answer

It is important that your work is a true representation of your writing, your interests, and your research.

As such, you should not include writing produced by generative AI models like ChatGPT in your assessment, even if you wrote the prompt.

You may use tools like Grammarly to check your spelling and grammar, as long as these do not meaningfully 'generate' writing for you. If you do use these kinds of tools, ensure that the tool does not make large corrections to your work. It is best for you to consider the spelling and grammar changes that the tool suggests, and then to implement any changes you think are necessary yourself.

Arden students are not allowed to use generative AI tools to translate, paraphrase, or rewrite work to be included in an assessment's answer.

For more details on how generative artificial intelligence can and should not be used, refer to the University's Statement on the use of AI in Assessment, available on our Artificial Intelligence webpage.
