It is important that your work is a true representation of your writing, your interests, and your research.
As such, you should not include writing produced by generative AI models like ChatGPT in your assessment, even if you wrote the prompt.
You may use tools like Grammarly to check your spelling and grammar, as long as these do not meaningfully 'generate' writing for you. If you do use these kinds of tools, ensure that the tool does not make large corrections to your work. It is best for you to consider the spelling and grammar changes that the tool suggests, and then to implement any changes you think are necessary yourself.
The Academic Skills Team have put together a handout that explains some different AI spelling and grammar tools and how students can use them ethically (as well as ways that are not allowed).
You can also watch this short video that discusses some of what the University's Statement on the use of AI in Assessment covers (but it is still your responsibility to read the University's full statement to understand how generative AI can and should not be used in academic work).
