Is there a GenAI checklist I can use to help me use GenAI ethically?

Answer

GenAI checklist

Use this checklist to ensure you have used GenAI ethically in your work and to avoid unfair practice.

  • I have not used AI as a source in my work. I have used it as a research starter, and then found credible sources at the Library

xxxxx

  • I have used AI to brainstorm ideas, but the core ideas of the work are my own

xxxx

  • If I have used AI, for example, to visualise data, I have cited and referenced the AI platform using the example in my referencing guide

xxxx

  • I have not used an AI tool to paraphrase or translate sections of my work for me

xxxx

  • I have not used the AI features of any writing and editing tools, for example, Grammarly. I have used the spelling and grammar features of the tool, but have not let the program re-write any parts of my work

xxxx

  • I have consulted my lecturer to ensure that the ways in which I have used AI are ethical

If you are unsure whether the way you have used generative AI is ethical, book an appointment with an Academic Skills Tutor, who can offer some guidance. You can also consult the Arden University Statement on the use of AI in Assessment, which is available on our Artificial Intelligence page
