Library tools for managing and searching for resources

Knowing how to use the library efficiently for your studies can make a big difference to the quality of your work and your success. 

If you are new to using the library, then make sure you have already worked through our introductory resource pack on using the library. 

The below resources take things a step further, to show you useful tools to help you manage the resources you find on the library, as well as tools for finding resources outside of the library. 

1) Learn to organise your search results into folders or saved lists

When you search for a topic on the library, you will likely find a large number of results. To organise the results you think are relevant to your work, it can be useful to add them to folders labelled for each module or assessment. 

You can also choose to simply save results for later, when you may have more time to read them.

2) Use LibKey Nomad for accessing resources from external sites

LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that you can download for free. When browsing for resources online, the extension will pick up if a resource you've clicked on is available on the Arden Library or open access.

3) Set up Google Scholar to link to your Arden Library account

While the Arden Library offers a huge number of credible academic sources, there may be times when Google Scholar could help you to expand your search. 

If you choose to use Google Scholar, it may be worthwhile linking your profile to your Arden Library account. This will enable you to be notified when results in Google Scholar are available on the Arden Library.
