Can I input Library resources into a generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tool?
Answer
No, our Library resources cannot be used with any GenAI tools.
Our Library collection providers currently do not permit their resources to be inputted into GenAI tools for any purpose, and to do so would be a breach of the contracts. This includes eBooks, journal articles, abstracts, case studies, industry reports, data, and any other resources taken from within one of the collections made available through the Arden University Library Portal.
Arden's statement on the use of AI in assessment also states that "Using AI to summarise, critique or paraphrase sources for you" is not acceptable use of GenAI, and to do so would be considered academic misconduct.
For more information on the use of AI during your studies, and a link to Arden's AI statement, take a look at our Artificial Intelligence page.
You may also wish to book a place onto our Using AI for Academic Purposes Workshop for guidance on how GenAI tools can be used ethically for academic work.
