Where can I find Case Law?

Answer

Arden Library offers access to a few different databases for finding case law, which are available from the A-Z List of Databases.

  • Westlaw UK is one of the major databases for case law, legislation and commentary. It has the full text of the official Law Reports series and contains material dating back to 1220 via the English Reports. It also provides access to European cases and international case law.

  • Lexis+ is another major legal database providing access to UK, EU and international case law, legislation, legal journals, commentary texts, current awareness, news, and practitioner texts.

  • The World Legal Information Institute (World LII) is also a free database offering independent and non-profit access to worldwide law, acting as a single search facility for legal databases and websites. Most notably, its country-by-country catalogue contains details on all elements of the legal systems, including case law and legislation.

If you need some help with using these databases, please don’t hesitate to contact the Library team or book a Library One-to-One Tutorial.
